Let’s begin our journey to the land of festivals—Nagaland. A land rich in diversity, Nagaland is home to 17 major tribes, each with its own unique culture and traditions. As we drive through the lush hills of Nagaland, we make our way to our homestay in Kigwema. Along the way, if time permits, we’ll stop to explore the Kohima War Cemetery, a place of deep historical significance, and the vibrant Kohima Local Market, where the pulse of local life thrives. After these enriching experiences, we will continue our journey to our homestay in Kigwema, where our adventure truly begins.

Night Stay: Kigwema.

Today, we begin our journey early, as we set out to trek to the breathtaking Dzukou Valley, often called the “Valley of Flowers” of the Northeast. Dzukou Valley, in late April and May, is a sight to behold. The valley comes alive with vibrant wildflowers in full bloom, creating a colorful carpet of nature that stretches as far as the eye can see. The cool breeze and pristine surroundings make it a perfect escape into the heart of the mountains. We’ll carry packed lunches for our trek, ensuring we can enjoy the serene beauty without any distractions. For this thrilling experience, please pack lightly—just a change of clothes, your water bottle, and any essentials you might need.

Note: Dzukou Valley is a plastic-free zone, so please avoid carrying any single-use plastic or regular plastic water bottles to help preserve its natural beauty.

Night Stay: Tents in Dzukou Valley.

Today, we’ll venture down into the valley, exploring the streams and the tranquil beauty that Dzukou has to offer. It’s the perfect opportunity to reflect on the unforgettable journey we’ve just had. It is often said that once you visit Dzukou Valley, your soul remains there, forever connected to its beauty. I’m sure you felt the same magical pull. We’d love to hear about your experience and the moments that stood out to you. Upon returning, take some time to relax and soak in the serenity of the surroundings.

Night Stay: Kigwema.

Today, we’ll take it easy and enjoy a relaxed pace. After a leisurely breakfast, we’ll set out to explore some of the charming villages around us. Our first stop will be Mima Village, famous for its unique underground beekeeping method, earning it the title of “The Honey Village.” Known for producing some of the finest honey in the country, Mima also stands out for its warm people, rich culture, and breathtaking landscapes of peaks, valleys, and vibrant skies. Next, we’ll take a peaceful walk through Jakhama Village before heading to the heritage-rich Kisama Village in the evening. There, we’ll explore the morung (traditional Naga huts) and learn about the diverse tribes of Nagaland. Trust me, the experience of slow living in Nagaland is truly something special. Take my word for it—this day will stay with you for a long time.

Night Stay: Kigwema.

What makes Khonoma, Asia’s first green village, so special? How did this once headhunting village transform into a model of conservation and sustainability? Khonoma is a testament to the incredible change it has undergone, blending history with environmental stewardship. But that’s just the beginning—there’s so much more to discover. Have you ever dined in the midst of a paddy field? The paddy fields of Khonoma offer a beauty that words can hardly capture. The lush, serene surroundings make for an unforgettable experience—one you have to see for yourself. After lunch, we’ll head to the small village of Dzulekie, where we’ll witness the slow pace of life and immerse ourselves in the Naga way of living. We’ll walk through the valley, explore the streams, and learn about fish farming, among many other local practices.

Mornings in this part of the region are magical. Wake up early to feel the refreshing breeze and start your day with the peace and beauty of nature surrounding you. It’s a perfect way to embrace the essence of slow living in Nagaland.

Night Stay: Dzulekie.

We hope you’ve had an incredible journey and enjoyed every moment of exploring the beauty and culture of Nagaland.
